ABOUT NMAWO
New Message for Afghan Women Organization (NMAWO) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and independent civil society organization dedicated to the welfare and advancement of Afghan citizens, with a primary focus on women’s empowerment, human rights, sustainable development and public services
Since its Establishment in 2010, As a women lead organization in Afghanistan, NMAWO has committed itself to empowering Afghan people, primarily focusing on women and girls while promoting sustainable community development for vulnerable populations. The organization addresses critical needs related to women's empowerment and humanitarian support through impactful projects.
Utilizing a holistic and integrated approach, NMAWO emphasizes sustainability and meaningful change for beneficiaries, whom we view as essential stakeholders and the primary drivers of our initiatives. By fostering trust at both local and national levels, NMAWO has built a strong reputation essential for effectively implementing its initiatives.
NMAWO focuses on several key areas, including women’s empowerment and rights, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), livelihood and economic development, education and skill building, humanitarian and emergency response, food security and agriculture, and climate action.
The organization has successfully implemented various projects across Kabul, Herat, Parwan, Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Daikundi, Ghazni, and Ghor provinces, strategically approaching each project to foster sustainable development, empower women, respond to humanitarian needs, and promote social cohesion. NMAWO maintains an operational presence in these various provinces, with its main office situated in Kabul.
Furthermore, NMAWO has established partnerships with a variety of national and international organizations, including the US Embassy Kabul, Counterpart International, UNICEF, UNDP, UN Women, UN HABITAT, OXFAM-PTRO, Search for Common Ground, Protect Defenders.eu.
The organization operates under a democratic structure comprising three boards: The Management Board, the Board of Directors, and the Advisory Board.

NMAWO envisions a progressive, inclusive, and discrimination-free Afghanistan where all citizens—especially women and girls—have equal access to education, essential services, and opportunities to improve their quality of life.
